Medical Cards

Our staff in Mercer's Medical Centre care for a large population of medical card holders. The medical card will cover you for regular attendances and medications (but it does not cover all costs). Unfortunately we are only able to see Medical Card holders who are formally registered with Mercer's Medical Centre.

GP Visit Cards for children under eight

With the GP Visit Card your child will be able to avail of free GP visits up until their 8th birthday. You must apply for this card  (or arrange for the transfer of the card from your old Practice) as soon as possible after registering your child with Mercer's. Charges may apply if your child does not have a valid card. 

From 11th August 2023, the GP Visit card eligibility will expand to include children ages 6 and 7 years, up to their 8th birthday. Patients whose existing cards have already expired will need to reapply.
